Cellulite forms as a result of excessive fat build up, which can often be unevenly distributed and so causes a dimpling effect on the skin.
Cellulite usually forms on the buttocks, back of the thighs and arms. Cellulite is an unwelcome sight, but most people are often confused about where it came from and how to get rid of it.
My 4 Tips to help you prevent and reduce cellulite:
- Reduce fat intake: the main culprits are often fried, greasy foods and ‘junk food’ such as potato crisps, chocolate, biscuits, cakes and creamy desserts.
- Reduce sugar intake: excess sugar is stored as fat in our body so the sweet hit you get from candy, and drinks such as fruit juices, soft drinks, iced teas, hot chocolate, cordials and milk shakes can be more than you bargained for. But it doesn’t end there white breads and other highly processed bakery items follow this same principle, since once they are in the body they are processed in the same way.
- Drink more water: water not only rehydrates your entire body, it also ‘fills you up’ so that you are more in control of the next thing you eat. Aim for 1.5-2 L per day.
- Get Moving!: this last tip is probably one your sick of hearing, but it is seriously sooo important. Because even if you are not over weight you will still store the excess fat and sugar you consume. Your body will not ask you where you would prefer it to be stored. However, if you’re physically active and you limit your fat and sugar intake your body will work more efficiently, you will become more toned and you will see the cellulite disappear in no time. Aim for 30-60 minutes, 5 days per week.
